'Colour is an equal tool alongside lighting, composition and movement' says Joker: Folie à Deux cinematographer
Chair of this year's FilmLight Colour Awards Lawrence Sher talks about his working relationship with colour and colourists

Lawrence Sher, who was nominated for an Academy Award for his work on 2019’s Joker, and has just finished working on its sequel Joker: Folie à Deux, has been discussing the importance of colour in his work.
Sher has been appointed president of the jury for this year’s FilmLight Colour Awards and has filmed a short video (below) about his working relationship with colour and colourists.
Entries are open until Monday 7th August 2023. A shortlist will be announced in the autumn, with the winners unveiled in November at EnergaCAMERIMAGE.
